My international visibility in a sub-field of supersymmetry (or SUSY)
  • Setting new directions/Highly-cited papers
2008 B. Dutta and T. Kamon are attaining a growing role in the important high energy physics experiment, LHC, by articulating the first-ever credible path to directly connect signals in the LHC detectors with the dark matter of the universe.

They expanded their view on the cosmologically-motivated SUSY signals from standard cosmology to non-standard cosmology, inspired by D. Nanopoulos and his colleagues' paper on Supercritical String Cosmology. They co-led their colleague (R. Arnowitt and D. Nanopoulos; D. Toback) and graduate students (A. Gurrola and A. Krislock), and showed how to extract the dark matter content through the measurements of the minimal SUGRA parameters at the LHC in standard and non-standard cosmology scenarios.

    2007
    R. Arnowitt, B. Dutta, and T. Kamon founded a new type of the conference, Interconnection between Particle Physics and Cosmology (PPC); Dutta and Kamon were co-chairs of the first conference (PPC2007).
2002 R. Arnowitt, B. Dutta, and T. Kamon initiated extensive phenomenology studies on cosmologically-motivated SUSY signals in the coannihilation region (expected in standard cosmology) at the Tevatron and the International Linear Collider (ILC) in 2002, followed by studies at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in 2004. See HP for more details.

    2002 T. Kamon (as an experimetalist) was the one to re-direected the SUSY search at the Tevatron using Bs → μμ [cite=80+], followed by a series of CDF Bs → μμ papers PRL93 (2004) 032001 [70+], PRL95 (2005) 221805 [40+], and PRL100 (2008) 101802 [15+]
1998 T. Kamon was the one of a few people realized the importance of tau lepton for SUSY and Higgs seacrhes and proposed to implement a novel lepton+track (LT) trigger (Page 7 of FermiNews) for the CDF Run II. The implementation is completed in 2003 (NIMA 518 (2004) 609), followed by several CDF physics analyses that were not possible w/o the LT trigger.

1993-94 T. Kamon (as an experimetalist) was the one of a few CDF and D0 members to initiate a new SUSY search using the "trilepton" final state at the Tevatron and wrote a vision paper (PRD 50 (1994) 5676 [cite=50+]), followed by a series of his own CDF papers PRL 76 (1996) 4307 [cite=35] and PRL 80 (1998) 5275 [cite=50+].

Later, he oversaw the trilepton analysis with 1 fb-1 as the CDF SUSY co-convener in 2005-07. (I was not involved in the analysis, so not one of principal authors of the paper.)
