Physics 222 is a course in relativity and quantum mechanics for engineering and science students. It assumes a knowledge of classical physics at the level of a traditional first-year calculus-based physics (Physics 218,208). The course develops the relativistic picture of space-time and kinematics. It develops quantum mechanics, beginning with wave-particle duality and proceeding to treatments of classic problems of quantum wells, harmonic oscillators, and atoms. It develops a quantum view of the atom and of solid state materials.
